Weed Leaf Wall Art Tutorial: Stoner Crafts
Welcome bud! If you're reading this then you have a hankering for some DIY stoner wall art.
The other day I was high at the craft store and I saw multi color gel pens and I was like- whoa.. hello childhood.
Back in those days “Zentangle” wasn’t really a.. “thing” *at least I don’t think it was* and I didn’t smoke weed back then .. where was I going with this...
Oh right, I wanted to do stoner art with my gel pens so I came up with this cool idea that I then turned it into sweet wall art.
Now I’m going to walk you step by step
through my process so you can make your own. Also I’ll provide you with a template for the leaf, so this DIY is pretty much fool proof.. pretty much.
You will need:
a Printer
Black cardstock paper
Scissors
Pencil
Gel pens
5 x 7 inch frame
Scrapbooking paper for a back ground
and of course the template below
THE RUN DOWN
Save the template on your computer then print it out
Now you take your scissors and cut out the leaf.
This is where the black paper comes into play. Place the leaf on the black paper and trace around that with your pencil
Now cut that leaf out of the black paper.
Alrighty after you have your leaf, it's drawing time
Can you come up with a zentangle design in your head? I can’t so I go to Pinterest.
I found a pattern by searching “Zentangle Pattern” on Pinterest you could also serach “Beginner Zentangle Designs” or “Easy Zentangle”.
Pinterest is a wealth of ideas, but DON'T get distracted we are making art.
Once you find a pattern you like, start drawing it on your black leaf.
TIP- I started down at the bottom of my leaf so if I screwed it up it’s not in the most prominent spot like the middle. You could also practice a bit on a scrap piece of paper before hand.
Keep drawing till your leaf is covered in the design.
Then give yourself a high five, you did it! Well the first part.
Just a few more steps.
Your leaf is going to fit nicely (landscape style) in a 5” x 7” frame but you need a back ground.
You can use white paper or more black paper or patterned scrapbook paper.
Use the glass from the frame as a template for your back ground, trace around it, cut it out then place it in your frame with the leaf on top and then the glass or the other way around if your frame is assembled from the back.
Now all that’s left to do is hang it on the wall. Congrats you’ve just made a piece of stoner art
